Codon table

Frequency of codon usage

Kazusa DNA Research Institute published the statistical information of the frequency of codon usage.

The genetic codes of an amino acid Serine can be coded with TCT/TCC/TCA/TCG/AGT/AGC (universal codon). But, the frequency of these codons are not equal each other. For example, the following table includes the frequency of codon usage for homo sapiens. You can find five-fold difference in the frequency between TCG and AGC, which are coding identical amino acid, serine.

When transl_table is not equal to id 1, it is shown as a qualifier on the CDS feature. Reference: <http://130.14.29.110/Taxonomy/Utils/wprintgc.cgi#SG1> Alternative Initiation Codons
